Making sure our construction company is competitive

Even small construction companies can get in on bidding for jobs and competing with other companies hungry for work. You sometimes have to be clever about the way that you compete for tenders and you have to make sure we have the right equipment and materials to get the job done as quickly and efficiently as possible; we can to keep clients coming back. This can mean using a construction broker to make sure you get the right combo of new equipment and secondhand equipment to help the business succeed. This blog is about finding and choosing heavy construction equipment for your small scale construction company.

Ideas for Planning a Vegas-Style Party With a Hired Bobcat

Blog

Every year, well over a million Australians travel to the United States, and many of them head to Las Vegas. There, aside from gambling, there are many things to do including a lifesize "sandbox" for grownups where you can play with diggers, bulldozers and other heavy equipment. If you want to have this kind of fun but don't want to spend the time crossing the pond, you can create your own personal fun.

Simply, invite some friends, hire a bobcat and plan one of these group activities.

1. Moving Sand

If you want to emulate the Las Vegas attraction as closely as possible, you need a bit of sand. If you have a beachside property or can rent one where the owner doesn't mind you playing in the sand, that's the perfect location. Alternatively, hire a dump truck to bring the sand to you, or substitute fill dirt, freely available in many cases.

Once you have the sand or dirt, take turns in the bobcat with your mates. Just make sure the hire company is okay with multiple drivers. A bobcat is actually a better option than most of the heavy machines used in Vegas. It's one of the easiest and safest machines to drive, and as it's smaller than many machines, the hire price tends to be more reasonable.

2. Smashing Concrete

Do you or any of your buddies need a new driveway or want to get rid of a retaining wall? Then, take the bobcat party in that direction. Bobcats don't just have to be for moving dirt. When you hire a bobcat, you can get a range of attachments including a concrete breaker.

This attachment allows you to hit concrete multiple times and watch it smash into pieces. As far as party events go, this is much more fun than smashing a pinata -- just make sure that the bystanders stand a safe distance away, and put some safety goggles in the bag of party favors so everyone has a pair.

3. Clearing Nature

If you cannot find any driveways, retaining walls or other concrete to smash, consider clearing a bit of nature. This is a great way to combine a party with actual work, and if you live in an area with fire risk, clearing the land with a bobcat helps to reduce the risk of the house burning.

Outside of the bush, you typically have to gain council approval if you want to clear trees and shrubs, but near the bush, you can typically clear areas close to buildings without getting special permission. Depending on where the property is, get the permission you need. Then, hire the bobcat, invite your friends over and take turns tearing stuff up. Attachments with teeth, claims, grapples and flail mowers can all help.
